Our building, the Richmond Condominium, is a 10-story mid-rise building completed in 1987. It houses 130 units that blend modern amenities with classic architectural design. With elevator access, units range from about 531 to 1,307 square feet, with one- and two-bedroom configurations, and the largest units include dens and multiple balconies. As residents, we benefit from a variety of common spaces, including heated pool with a grilling area, and part-time access to a courtyard area. Garage parking is available to most residents, and additional parking options are available nearby. Some pets are allowed, subject to building and insurance requirements.
Managed by EJF, we benefit from on-site management and part-time lobby attendant services. The Richmond Condominium Unit Owners Association, established in 1988, oversees building operations and maintenance.
The Dupont Circle Metro station (Red Line) is about a 10-minute walk away, providing easy access to other parts of the city. Being in the Dupont Circle area, we have access to a variety of dining, shopping, and entertainment options. And our neighborhood boasts a high walkability score.
The Dupont Circle neighborhood has a long history in its:
Architecture. The Richmond is one of the newer buildings in the area. This map from the DC Historical District shows the construction dates of buildings in the Dupont Circle area. As far as we know, our lot was vacant before the Richmond was built.
The Richmond is located in Dupont Circle, which has been the heart of the city's LGBTQ community for decades. The area of 17th Street between P and R Streets is known as Frank Kameny Way, named after a long-time activist who organized the first gay rights protest outside the White House in 1965. The Capital Pride 17th Street Pride Block Part takes place on 17th Street each June.
Annie's Paramount Steakhouse, and Trios Restaurant, pictured above, have been an important part of our neighborhood for over 75 years. In that time, they were mainstays for many local residents, including the LGBTQ+ community. Sadly, Trios closed on November 2, 2025.
